At the age of 17 Chelsea was killed when she was given a ride on a motorcycle driven by a friend's boyfriend on April 26, 2008. Due to lies told by her friend and no help from law enforcement, Chelsea's body was not found until around 2:30 in the afternoon on April 28, 2008. We were blessed to have many family and friends searching for Chelsea. Instead of assistance from law enforcement, Chelsea was found by friends who love her.
Chelsea was laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville, Alabama in the Garden of the Trinity on May 2, 2008.
Chelsea was a very giving person; giving of her time and energy doing many hours of volunteer work. At the time of her death, Chelsea qualified for the Silver Award in the President's Volunteer Service Awards. Chelsea always had a listening ear for her friends who had problems and did what she could to help them find a solution. Once Chelsea had a friend with a problem that she couldn't seem to find an answer for. She told this person that he needed to talk to me, her mother, because I could make everyone feel better. He came and sat on my couch and we watched Monsters, Inc. together and talked.
I have so many wonderful memories of Chelsea growing up. She was a joy to all of us her family.
